This is a photo I took when I was traveling in Taipei early August, it is the wall art of a live house called “THE WALL”
There is graffiti on it which is cool.

March Wallpaper: when life’s alive in everything

I wanted to do typography thing with Helvetica this month, while searching for some famous quotes. I found this and was inspired by it.

Spring is when life’s alive in everything.

A quote from English poet Christina Rossetti.

Comes in 2 versions. One with the calender and the other one without.

I have also made my first wallpaper for iPhone which is included in the set.

January wallpaper: Year of the Ox

Happy New Year! Wish you all have a lovely 2009. This year I will continue with my calendar wallpaper series and hope to make a nice collection. I think wallpaper design can give me the most freedom since it is simpler. During the second half of 2008 I realized that people tend to like minimalist style wallpapers. As my November wallpaper “Wisdom comes with Winter” has received the most positive feedback so far. So I will try and keep on with it. Thanks for your support and comments in 2008.

Nengajyou (年賀状) style

January wallpaper comes in a Nengajyou style. “Nengajyou” (年賀状) is a Japanese New Year’s greeting card. The little cow in the corner represents the Year of the Cow. And the Japanese text on it saying “Akemashite Omedetou” (あけましておめでとう)means “Happy New Year”.

PSYENCE inspir’ Wallpaper set

“PSYENCE” – hide’s 2nd Album.
This wallpaper set is designed to commemorate hide’s birthday (13th December 1964). On 13th December 2008 would have been his 44th birthday.

The wallpaper comes in 3 custom colours: pink, yellow and green. Inspired by the album artwork of his 2nd studio album “PSYENCE”- the first press limited edition, released on 2/9/1996, which also released in 3 different colours.

The quote “STAY FREE YOUR MISERY” was a line from the lyrics of both “MISERY” and “FLAME”. Both songs are recorded in the album “PSYENCE”.

December Wallpaper: Yellow Heart

We are finally in the last month of the year. The most important day in December is with no doubt Christmas day! Though apart from that December is also the birth month of my favorite rock star, Matsumoto Hideto, (better known by his stage name “hide” (all lower cases)) who was the former and now deceased lead guitarist of popular Japanese Rock band X JAPAN. On 13th December is when should have been his 44th birthday. I have always wanted to do a piece with this idea and I think this is the right time. I am dedicating this to him.

My inspiration mainly came from the style of his signature guitar model, which was also called “Yellow Heart” (see picture).

November Wallpaper: Wisdom comes with Winter

This is my second Desktop calendar submission to Smashing Magazine since August. And I hope you all like it.

This month I made this wallpaper with a dark bluish color just because I think this is how winter means to me. Dark and cold. It seems that this year’s winter is approaching us earlier than usual. November is the start of winter in the Northern hemisphere. It maybe not the most welcoming month but I hope you enjoy it while waiting for the lovely December!

The Idea:

Recently I am very into a Japanese Rock band called “the brilliant green” (Official site). The composition of this wallpaper is inspired by one of their album cover art -”THE WINTER ALBUM“.

Here I used the quote I remember: “Wisdom comes with winter.” by Irish playwright, Oscar Wilde, arranged with a simple typography. Hoping to make the month pleasanter!

I have made 3 different versions of this, one with the calendar and another one without. Plus a special “HEART” version.

October Wallpaper: Vintage Library

Sorry for the delay of this month’s wallpaper. I almost didn’t realize 1/3 of the month has gone but I still tried my best to do this month’s work. October has been a meaningful month for me for couple of reasons. It’s the birth month of many of my beloved ones. I have been seeing a lot of vintage style showcase recently. Therefore please enjoy October in this vintage style desktop. This is also my first go on vintage style.
